2011 Predictions

Influenced by a forum i frequent.

I thought i'd post some predictions for 2011. So here goes.

Entertainment Predictions

1. Christmas Number 1 will be X Factor winner. (It will be some years before someone manages to do another Rage against the machine.)
2. The Final Potter Film will be Critically Panned but loved by fans, securing a larger box office than any of the others.
3. Likewise Transformers 3 will retrieve poor reviews, like a guilty pleasure people will publicly bemoan it but will still watch it leading to record box office.
4. Sucker Punch is a Suprise Hit. Proving Warner Brothers "no female leads" stance to be stupid.
5. Glastonbury Festival returns to a rain soaked event as it should be. (please god please.)
6. Best Film Oscar will be won by a film we haven't even heard of yet.

Political predictions.

1. ConDems continue their attack on local government, while still bleating on about devolving big government so that more decisions are made locally.
2. Tabloid Media "fall for it"(read Rupert likes this.) , Blame for anything from increased Crime, reduced employment and the weather is laid on the door step of councils who have had to take massive reductions in funding while being presented with increased legislative responsibilities.
3. Transparency Agenda leads to lazy journalism with reports of the ilk "Council's spend £1000/ year on Chairs". Daily Mail/Star/Sun readers come out with comments like "Why can't they stand up? Lazy ....." . More enlightened people smile and walk slowly away.
4. Crime levels will go up, ConDems will blame the police for not trying hard enough. Real reason reduced police numbers thanks to cuts, increased unemployment thanks to cuts and reduced benefits thanks to cuts.
5. NHS Waiting Lists up, ConDems will blame the Doctors and Nurses for not working hard enough. see above.
6. Unemployment will go up, ConDems will blame it on unemployed people not looking hard enough.
   
7. ConDems will spend or force councils to spend money(which will mean more cuts to essential services.) on extra equipment to deal with Snow, it may snow in the winter (11/12) but will not snow significantly for the next 10 years.


8. Lots of Stikes.


9. Lots of Protests .


10. Lots of the above two turn into Riots. ConDems rub hands as allows them to side step the real issues and be heavy handed with protesters.


11. Tax Avoidance becomes a major battle line drawn between rich and poor. Tories as protectors of the rich do sweet FA about it. While further increasing the tax on those unable to avoid it.

Consumerism

1. The Kindle goes from strength to strength. Amazon will possibly release a new version for next Christmas.
2. Kinect allows xBox to finally push the wii from its niche. xBox sales go through the roof. Nintendo don't worry their next console is just as ground breaking as the wii was.
3. Everyone realises that 3d is a gimmick. Early adopters angry at having to buy a £2000 tv every 2 years (flat screen -> HD -> 3D) decide to wait till super duper now we really mean it hyper definition 3d tvs are released in 2014.
